Yearbook Yourself

Like Elf Yourself during Christmas, Yearbook Yourself is quite popular on the interwebs these days. I just had quite a bit of fun doing it myself. Here is me from 1958-1972, every two years (go from top row, L-R, bottom row L-R) 1958thru1974 by you. This one got left out of the collage. 1974 Michelle YearbookYourself_1974 by you. 1976-1990 1976thru1990 by you. 1992-2000 1992thru2000 by you. The pictures from '58 and '60 are creepy. I look JUST like my mom, mostly because she had that hair style and wore those glasses (as did most females back then) in her high school pictures. My mom wasn't h.s. age in '58 and '60 so those must have been popular styles for a while. That was way too much fun and I really want to Yearbook my husband.

Happy Meetiversary!

Last years Meetiversary post As long as I have a blog, I will most likely celebrate this day in writing. 5 years ago, I met a guy who would become my boyfriend, face to face for the first time. Our first date lasted many, many hours. I beat him in mini golf, he made me laugh a lot and I'm pretty sure I caught him staring at me during dinner. And no, not because I had something in my teeth. My beauty is worthy of a lingering glance.* Now he is my husband and I still beat him in mini golf, he makes me laugh harder every day and he still stares at me. And yes, because I have something in my teeth or due to a completely blonde comment I make. The stare is accompanied by an eye roll and a head shake. Ahhhh, love. Isn't it grand? Happy 5 year meetiversary my love!!! And as always, thanks to J.B. for making it happen! *Sarcasm, people...sarcasm.

Taco Cups

In need of something easy and yummy for dinner last night, I remembered reading about a recipe I had been interested in trying.
Taco Cups are easy and quite tasty!

What do you need?

1 package buttermilk biscuits. We used the large size but medium sized biscuits would work fine.

1 lb. Ground beef and taco seasoning

Cheese, sour cream, additional taco toppings

Cook ground beef, drain and season

Press biscuits into the bottom and sides of muffin pan. My husband rolled the biscuits out using a rolling pin and then placed them in the pan.

Fill with cooked seasoned meat and cook for 15 minutes at 400 degrees. Sprinkle with cheese and bake until cheese is melted.

These were very, very yummy and very simple to make. I'm sure these will go in our weekly rotation of meals!

Stalking my mailbox

Obviously, we all know who is missing on this cover. The person that made Saved By The Bell the incredible show we all watched and loved. Who could forget his silly antics, his annoying laugh and stupid questions. I just never thought someone who was such a huge part of this show (and spin off series) would ever be left out of a reunion article. People Magazine has a lot of explaining to do.
Poor Mr. Belding. He must be crushed.
Oh, I guess Screech is missing as well but if you have followed his "career" in the past few years, he is nothing but a complete and utter a-hole so I don't really care to know what is going on in his life.
Do you have a favorite SBTB memory?
"I'm so excited, I'm so excited....I'm sooo scared." Oh Jesse Spano. You crazy showgirl.

You can see here that I was totally getting into doing the 30 Day Shred. I took some time off of the shred after going to Disneyland and well, unlike Stella, I never got my groove back. I had been meaning to start up again but just never had the energy to do it. I knew I would have to start back at Level 1 because jumping back into Level 2 would have been a huge mistake. Finally last night, after watching 4 episodes of Felicity in a row (I re-love this show so much), I decided to get off my butt and shred it up! Luckily, my husband joined me because nothing gets me going like some friendly competition. I totally smoked him (he did finish though! Good job my love!!) and made it through Level 1, Day 1. It wasn't too hard but only because I know Level 2 is straight up difficult. I hope we can manage 29 more days of shredding before we move onto P90X, which my husband has done before and says is killer. Woohoo. Can't wait.

Unlike anything you will see anywhere else. The fog was pouring over the hills of Sausalito. It was amazing. I wish I would have had a camera with video to capture this. On the ferry boat was we were leaving the dock, everyone had their eyes glued to the hills and the fog. Incredible.
Fog floating over Sausalito
Fog floating over the Golden Gate Bridge
Smug floating over San Francisco. Typical. ;)
100 Internet points if you can guess what show talked about smug in San Francisco.
San Francisco takes my breath away every time I visit. I just love and adore the place. I am so lucky to live so close.

Au Bob x 2

When I blogged yesterday asking for some Care Bear Stare powers, I was asking for selfish reasons. We put an offer on a house Wednesday night. We love this house. We love the neighborhood and the yard. I love the island in the kitchen and my husband loves the high ceilings. But just like any real estate process, it may take a while so we still wait to see what the result of our offer is. 2 minutes after I wrote that post, I received a text message from my mom to call my brother in law. Aw heck, I thought. This can't be good, it is only 6:30 a.m. He told me that my sister went to labor and delivery the night before because she was in a lot of pain. I tried to stay calm but when we got off the phone, I fell into a pile of tears. Those of you with siblings or family members you are very close to understand, right? Never in a million years do you want someone you love to be in pain. I got in my car, headed to work, unaware of what would be happening for the rest of the day. 10 minutes into my drive, my mom called. "She is going to have the baby in a couple of hours. You might want to come down here." The next 3 hours went like this: Exit freeway Turn around Get back on freeway Cry for 40 minutes Reassure myself that things will work out Arrive at hospital See my sister See my sister get wheeled off into surgery Watch my BIL change into a funny white suit with shoe covers and a hat Wait impatiently, making small talk with Diana, my mom, dad, aunt and uncle (who are awesome for being there just as they were when Diana was born) Wait more. See nurses feet coming into the room from behind the curtain. "The baby is out. She is in the NICU. Mom is doing well, she is in recovery." I can see my BIL walking down the hall, HUGE smile on his face. "2 lbs, 15 oz, 16 3/4 inches" Wait. Wait. Wait. Go into NICU to see my precious little niece Amy for the first time. So little! Wait.Wait.Wait. See my sister, show her a picture of her youngest daughter, and leave her alone to sleep. Funny fact: Diana was born Thursday June 23, 2005. Amy was born Thursday July 23, 2009. Lucky number 23. Pretty fitting considering 23 was Michael Jordan's number and Matt is a basketball coach and my sister, a former basketball player. As of today, mom and baby are doing fine. They were transferred to their "home" hospital last night. The doctors are impressed with how well little Amy is doing considering her size and her early appearance into the world. And just a cute sidenote. My mom told me when Diana saw the baby last night for the first time, she said "that's a cool baby." I hope she feels the same way when her younger sister is older!!

Sisters Rule

If you didn't already know, I love my older sister.

Some people have asked if we are twins.

The answer is always no even though sometimes, I question it. She is pretty cool, even when she dumps confetti on my head at Easter...
She is passionate about her family and photography and very often combines the two!

We had an amazing time at my wedding last year. She was my matron of honor

And she pretty much tops my list of favorite people for many reasons. For creating this little one...

making me an aunt, she is pretty awesome.

And now, as her due date approaches and she prepares to give birth to her second child, we get closer and closer.

I have been very excited for this child to arrive. Being an aunt to two kids, seeing Little Miss be a big sister and watching my sister and her husband parent two adorable kids.

But the child's gender has remained a mystery....until now. Thanks to the accidental slip of a doctor, I am happy to announce that my sister is having a....

More than anything, I am thrilled that Diana gets to have a little sister. I hope that they develop the kind of loving relationship I have with my sister. I hope they sit on the couch together, get slurpees, text message each others husbands, take pictures together and share loads of laughter throughout their lives. Sisters are amazing and I am so excited to see their bond grow and grow and explain to Diana that being a sister is very important job! No worries because her mom is a great sister so she will have someone to show her the ropes.

And I get to buy more princess stuff anytime I pass by the Dollar Bins at Target!

Note To Self:

If you put a votive candle in your car in order to make the interior smell nice, be sure to remove that candle when temperatures spike above 100 degrees. Because candles melt.

Start the day watching Niece learn to play soccer....
Drive 45 minutes to attend a beautiful bridal shower with views of a bridge....
The bride! The photographer!
Drive 90 minutes home, through the back roads to avoid massive freeway traffic, shower, change and drive another 30 minutes for a birthday party for a good friend. Now that is a Saturday.

Happy Right Now

Is there anything more exciting than unexpected good news? It just changes the outlook on your entire day, really. Especially on a Friday, in the middle of a slow workday. Good news is awesome and I really, really hope that it continues to roll in. Happy Friday everyone!

Keeping It Fun (and Fit!) Challenge: Part 2

Keeping it Fun Challenge Part 1 can be found here I remember reading or hearing about an idea to motivate couples to exercise and I think it is a grand idea. It involves competition and if you know me at all, I am very competitive. I need to win. At everything. Many couples struggle with the following two things: 1) working out and 2) agreeing what to do on a Friday/Saturday night/weekend day. This Keeping It Fun (and Fit) Challenge aims to help solve those problems. Here is the plan: Whoever works out the most between Sunday and Thursday gets to pick what to do on the weekend. Not the whole weekend but a part of it. What movie to see, what movie to rent, what day trip to take, what dessert to order at the restaurant, etc. And if you and your S.O. already work out everyday equally, tally up the number of minutes/hours you work out. Keep it honest, folks! This is for fun...and fitness! Runners can compete to see how many miles each person can run from Sunday-Thursday! Keep it safe, don't overwork yourself just for the sake of a workout. And lets be real people. A workout isn't taking the stairs at work once. And I won't even count cleaning the house even though that can be good cardio. Take a walk. Take a run. Take a walk/run. No gym membership? Workout dvd are pretty afforable and the 30 Day Shred (which I stopped doing at day 14 thanks to vacations) should count as 2 workouts. That isn't for the faint of heart! I plan on doing this with my husband. Surprise Chris!! We are totally doing this! And I am going to dominate. Prepare to watch lots and lots of chick flicks, hubs!

Adventures in Home Buying

We took our first house hunting trip in June unsure what to expect. We saw some we liked, saw some we hated and saw some that were a complete mess. Yesterday, we found one we love. Husband checked it out, I checked it out and we decided to make an offer. This home has been on the market 3 days and already has 5 offers!! In conclusion, we need to learn to be patient and not fall in love with anything until it is claimed as ours. "Yeah, it's cool", "Sure, I dig it", "I'm down with this house" are all approved phrases to use when seeing a house. "OMG I HAVE TO HAVE IT RIGHT NOW" is off of the list of feelings to have upon stepping foot into any property. I learned that in just a few short weeks of house hunting!! What did you learn while trying to buy a house?

And The Foot Fix Goes To.....

Wait, who is number 11? Here is what I did to determine the winner. I assigned a number/numbers to each commenter based on how many entries they won. The numbering went in numerical order from the first person who commented down to the last.
So, Cara was the first commenter with 1 entry, she is 1. Sunfloweramos was second with 1 entry so she was 2. Mama Parker was the third commenter with 2 entries so she was 3 and 4.
So who is #11???
Thanks to everyone who entered my giveaway. Like I said, my 500th post is coming up very quickly so be on the look out for another giveaway soon!

Summer Clothes

I went shopping this past weekend to Old Navy. I really just needed to get a white cami and I had every intention of just getting one.white.cami.
Here is the green dress on me! Normally, I wouldn't wear a white tank top underneath it but since I am at work, I don't want to be flaunting the goods. I save that for the weekends! I can't be held responsible for my actions once I walk into Old Navy and they actually have clothes that I like. Besides, I have birthday parties, weddings, a shower and other social type activities to attend. I needed a couple of new items in my closet.

My First Guest Blogger!!!

It is my pleasure to introduce a new feature to my blog! Help me in welcoming this amazing guest blogger by saying hello in the comments!! Hello followers! In a desperate attempt to increase my Google Reader subscription base, I'm introducing a brand new feature to SeeMichelleBlog..."Hub'Caps". As many of you know, I recently wed the greatest man in the history of the world. In addition to his "can't make direct eye contact" good looks and his "personally hand-crafted by Jesus" man-body, he is also a connoisseur of all things awesome....specifically movies, videogames, barely-there-bikinis, sports, gadgets and cars. He has agreed to take time out of his busy schedule of creating cures for diseases, fighting crime and philanthropy to stop by and deliver a pulitzer-esque dissertation on what's hot or not in one of the aforementioned categories of "Awesome". So stay tuned for the first installment, which he has assured will be the first blog post in history that causes "craughter"...which is some weird laugh-cry hybrid...should be interesting!! P.S.- Hub'Caps...get it? Husband Recaps?? It's especially impressive because he thought of that while cranking out his 1000th push-up!! The words above are not mine. This is the work of my husband, who will be in charge of weekly Hub'Caps blog posts. I think he is hilarious and wanted to give credit where credit was due. If you have any suggestions on topics you would like to see covered in Hub'Caps, please leave a comment!

I like hearing, I like hearing, I like hearing....

Between the knock, knock noise in our bedroom (no, it has not gone away and no, the apartment complex has not solved the problem yet) and an officemates henious laugh, I need to remind myself how lucky I am to have my hearing. Because some days, I want to rip my ears off of my head and have complete silence. I'm going to knock on wood that this doesn't actually happen. You can never be too careful.

Knock Knock Update

I wrote this post a few weeks ago about the annoying knocking sound that could be only heard in our bedroom between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Last night, I finally got around to emailing our apartment managers about this obnoxious noise. I sent a very detailed email about the noise and how it is disrupting our lives. Ok, I may have exgagerating a little but we are trying to get out of our lease early so it doesn't hurt to make it sound like our lives are being ruined by the knock knock noise. I just received a message on my cell phone from the apartment manager saying how strange this was and how she hasn't heard of anyone else experiencing this. Upon talking to her, she thought that perhaps it was 1 of 3 things. 1) A fan on the roof of our building (we live on the top floor) that turns on only at night 2) A light on the wall outside of our bedroom that is having some difficulties and therefore, is causing a vibrating sound which sounds like a knocking sound in our bedroom. 3) A machine or appliance of some sort in our neighbors apartment that they only plug in at night. Humidifier, white noise machine, etc. She was very nice about my complaint and even asked why we hadn't said anything earlier. I said that I thought it would just go away and wasn't really sure if they could do anything about it because it was such a mystery. She assured me that they were going to do some investigating today and hopefully have some sort of answer for us later today. We can only hope. Much to her surprise, we will also be asking her tonight if it is possible to switch to a month-to-month lease (our rent would go up which is fine by me) so we can start putting offers on a house. Except we will replace "so we can start putting offers on a house" with "because my husband is going to be transfered to another location for his job." I suck at lying so hubs is going to have to handle that piece of information. Wish us luck on both counts!!!

Heel of Approval: Product Review

Pardon me for such a weird topic but I just had to share. I have less than desirable heels. I wear flip flops a lot and don't moisturize enough and the end result ain't pretty. A while back, I came across this heel treatment in the goody bag of one of my 5K/10K/Bay to Breakers races. It worked SO WELL. I knew that I had found the cure to my ugly heels. My husband was excited to because, well, the sight of my heels makes him gag. I used the samples of that treatment and googled it to see where I could buy more. I never did buy more and I threw away the sample packets so my heels never got better. Sad face. While at Bath and Body Works a few weeks ago, I came across their True Blue Spa line and decided to try the Heel of Approval Cracked Heel Treatment.
In the past week, I have been using this on my heels every morning and every night and sometimes in between. I have noticed a huge difference! It contains shea butter and glycolic acid, which helps get rid of dry, dead skin cells. I highly recommend this product for soft, smooth feet and heels. And now, you can own it!!! GIVEAWAY AHEAD..... I am giving away one 4 oz. jar of Heel of Approval plus a 2.5 oz bottle of Glove Me Tender Restorative Hand Treatment. You don't want your hands having jealous thoughts towards your feet, right? One entry: Leave me a comment Two entries: Become a follower of my blog by clicking the "follow" link on the right (if you are already a "follower", you still get a second entry!) Three entries: Blog about this giveaway on your blog! I will announce the winner on Monday July 13th so make sure to complete those entry steps prior to the 13th!!

Fireworks go BOOM!

I can't help but share some of these right now! My husband was super duper smart and purchased a tripod so I could take amazing pictures while he lit the fireworks in the street. Those are just 3 of the 220 pictures I took tonight. We had a great time! Chris' brother, sister and mom joined us as well as my cousin and her boyfriend. We sat on the sidewalk and watched the show. We might not have had the loudest fireworks on the block (my ears still hurt a bit!!) but we did have some fun moments. I love the 4th of July!!
