Our day started at 9:00 a.m. (mine started a bit earlier since I couldn't sleep). It took us 2.5 hours to pack everything in our apartment into 3 cars, 1 SUV and 1 17' moving truck. We drove to our new house and started to unload everything which just seems wrong after spending so much time loading!!Our messy loft! Our messy kitchen! I had to put up some Halloween lights!
And while I ran to do the door to give out candy, my husband admired his new 46" computer monitor, AKA our old television. Pretty awesome. I am looking forward to blogging on that!
And if you look very closely at the picture above, specifically the fireplace mantle, you will see 3 snowmen hanging out. Yes, I put my newly purchased Christmas decor out on Halloween. I couldn't resist. I'll show you a bigger version......

It was my last day of waiting for the gate at my apartment complex to open. Today was my last day of having to sit at the stupid long stop light near my apartment complex that takes forever to turn green even though there are no cars going the other direction. And it was my last day of enduring the 5 to 50 interchange that can take forever if I leave at 7:05 instead of 7:00. It was my last day of a 20-25 minute commute. It is my last night at our apartment. At any apartment, hopefully. Tomorrow we are moving into our house and while the stress of moving caused me to break into a puddle of tears last night (The Office and 30 Rock made me LOL which was good), I am ready to move. Wish us luck that we get everything there in one piece....especially ourselves!!!

We have space in our kitchen for a pub table and a buffet/server. The problem is they need to be matching styles and wood types/color. Ashley has collections that contain both but a very limited number.
This is Beringer:
This is Logan:
This is Urbandale. We really love Urbandale but there isn't a "matching" server. Neither Logan or Beringer really match. Sad face.Ok wait. I found this server on the R.C. Willey website. Does it match Urbandale? I am in love with this server.
The color of this couch in person is a lot lighter. This set would be for the formal living room. We think the brown and the hints of blue will look nice in a room with pretty blue walls and tan/brown throughout the other rooms in the house.
A couch on one side of the room...
And two of these chairs across from the couch. Add in a coffee table and a cool area rug and you have a living room.
So, dear readers, what do you think? Which Pub/Server combo do you like? Help!

And even when the show returns in January, it was recently announced that it will take a hiatus for the Winter Olympics which runs on a DIFFERENT STATION from February 12-28.
So we will get a couple episodes in January then take a short break until things get up and running again. I don't really understand why they need to break for the Olympics but whatever. I'm not giving up on Lost now. I've stuck with this show for 5 seasons and I can't wait to see what the writers/cast/directors have in store for us in the final season!

We took a trip to Ashley Furniture this past weekend in hopes of finding a couple of couches and furniture sets. Overall, we were pretty impressed with the selection but had a hard time finding a sectional for our family room. But we saw several pieces that would fit perfectly in our house. And, I was going to find the living room set we picked out but the Ashley website is being a pill. So I will just show pictures of some of the other pieces we liked.....

We moved into our apartment in November of 2006. Back then, we were still boyfriend and girlfriend, happily living in sin. Our apartment was the first place we picked out to live together. Our apartment was the place where Chris tracked the delivery of my engagement ring. Our apartment was the place we walked through the door as an engaged couple. Our apartment was the place where we planned our wedding for 15.5 months. Our apartment was the place where we began our life as husband and wife. Our apartment was the place where we decided to look for a house. Our apartment was the place where we made pro and cons lists about the houses we looked at and put offers on. Our apartment was the last apartment we will (hopefully) live in. I will miss walking to the soda vending machine by the pool. And that is about all I will miss. Our house is 100 times better than our apartment because it is our house. Our house is the place where we will unload our belongings and turn into a home. Our house is the place where we will hand out candy on Halloween and carry in a regular sized Christmas tree for the first time. Our house is the place where will be bring our child (future, not yet in existence child) home from the hospital. Our house is the place where new memories will be made. We are moving into our house on October 31 and it can't come soon enough!!

On my way to work this morning, I saw a motorcycle cop pull over a car. The person that got pulled over was driving a Prius and in an effort to make myself smile on a Wednesday morning, I'd like to think that the person got pulled over based on emitting too much smug into the atmosphere.
If you haven't seen this episode of Southpark, you should watch it. It is hilarious.

I just deleted an entire post about the weather. Wow, I can't believe I actually was going to post a blog about the weather. How lame am I? A huge storm last week caused some leaking through our windows. All of our windows. And our house has a lot of windows. How many? 25. Our apartment has 4 windows so yeah. Lots of windows and lots of water leaking into the walls of those windows. We are having someone come out to the house today to set up fans to dry out the walls and the floors and hopefully, someone is going to diagnose the problem soon. We can't put our wood floors in until we know what the problem is. So that means we are at a standstill but have plans to officially move on October 31. No matter what, I will be handing out candy on Halloween. Our house will look like a haunted mansion since the carpet is pulled up and it is a hot mess. Hopefully, I will have something exciting to blog about later this week with some good news. If not, my blog silence will be due to overwhelming frustration about this wet window situation. Wish us luck!

You can't move into a house until you have a place to store your food and wash your clothes. We can now do both of those things!!!! Ok, look in the freezer section. See there up by the icemaker? See that little rectangular door? That is a slot just for frozen pizzas. Pizza has its own little storage space. I can't wait to buy a frozen pizza and slide it in there. Now look into the fridge. See that dark door in the middle? That is a drawer just for thawing food. You can even put stuff in there that you want to make cold really fast. Maybe I'll bring some popsicles home from the store and they will be a bit melty. I can stick them in that drawer, turn the option to fast freeze and make sure my popsicles freeze really fast. Our pretty Breakwater Blue washer and dryer. I can't wait to do laundry. I've never said that in my life. My mom and Diana came over while we were waiting for the delivery guys to bring this stuff in and install it. Diana had fun rolling a ball on the handrail that is laying in our loft. She didn't really care about the fridge or washer or dryer. I showed her the fridge and she said "there is no food in there" and then walked away. Grown up stuff is boring for a 4 year old. I have no idea what all those buttons do so you know that I will be sitting down on our
couch cement floors to read the user manuals.

Let me preface this post by saying that yes, I am going to be seeking medical help for this issue but I thought I would reach out into the internet world first. I've been experiencing some awful pain in my legs the past few weeks. Actually, I have had this pain on and off for a while now but the pain has been non-stop for a good week now. Based on some googling, I think I have pinpointed the problem as an issue with my sciatic nerve. I can actually feel that the pain is starting in my lower back and shooting awful, painfully tinges down my legs. I can't sleep at night the pain is so bad. I toss and turn and can't get comfortable. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any home remedies? Should I ask my doctor for x-rays? To be completely honest with myself, I know that if I start exercising, this will go away because it has happened in the past. I haven't been to the gym in so long that I will be huffing and puffing just thinking about getting on a machine. But 30 minutes on a stationary bike might be enough to cause this pain to stop. Thanks for your help!

I created a fun little poll over there on the right side of my blog. If you read my blog through Google Reader that means you have to extend your finger over to your mouse, click on my blog and be directed to my actual website. Hard work, I know. Please vote. Your votes will
probably help me decide if I should blog more about our adventures in home decorating/renovating.
I like those polls so I might do a new one every week. Maybe CNN or Fox News will pick up the results of my polls and talk about them on air. My polls will be that important. Seriously. Just wait.

Does anyone watch this show? If you do, SHAME ON YOU!!! Why hasn't someone told me to start watching this show? My husband somehow decided to start watching it and I watched a couple of episodes with him last night. I'm sure you all know that the show stars Larry David who created and was the head writer for Seinfeld, one of the funniest shows ever, in my opinion. Curb Your Enthusiasm is mostly improvised and has a great cast of guest stars often playing themselves. I just watched 2 episodes last night and I love it. Larry David is a perfect combo of all 4 Seinfeld characters. I highly recommend getting this show on dvd and if you have HBO, start watching it now. Also, everyone should be watching The Modern Family, Wednesdays on ABC. Love it.

I sucked down enough cold medicine to manage to walk across the street (huffing and puffing) to see Star Wars in Concert. No amount of sickness was going to stop me from seeing two things this weekend: SW in Concert and my friend Lindsay's wedding. I managed to pull it together for both which is probably why I am home sick today, feeling like garbage. Enjoy some photos and videos from the Star Wars concert. Very, very cool....even for someone who has never really watched the original 3 movies. I know, I am lame. This amazing concert is traveling all over the country through mid-December. You can get tickets on ticketmaster.com.

I got THE email we have been waiting for today. The email that would determine if we were able to get out of our apartment lease or have to continue paying rent while not living here....which would be completely horrible. We have been approved to break our lease! Our last day in this apartment is November 8. This makes everything related to buying our house much more real. We can actually plan to move and really need to get hustling when it comes to laying down our floors, cleaning the carpet and packing up 3 years worth of stuff in this apartment. This has made my day, even though I am getting sick. I feel pretty happy right now!!!

“I bought those boat tickets the day I saw that YouTube video. I knew we needed a backup plan. The boat was actually Plan C. The church was Plan B. And Plan A was marrying her a long, long time ago. Pretty much the day I met her.” Jim Halpert might be the best male tv character ever. He is funny, sweet, romantic, smart and as an actor, John Krasinski is top notch. As I cried watching Jim and Pam get married last night, my husband said "they aren't real people you know." My response, said through tears: "But I love them anyways."

We love this area rug for our family room.
Two of these chairs would be so fun in our "blue room" aka living room
Those chairs on top of either of these rugs would be so funky! In a good way!!
We ordered our hardwood floors and after getting a price quote that matched the cost of the floors, my husband decided he would just be installing them himself. He even did some homework about it online last night!
Things are coming together!!!

Yesterday, I hit the back of my head on a shelf after bending over to pick something up. When I was driving home from Lowe's in the evening, a guy turned out of our apartment complex, nudged the back of my car, leaving a mark and a pissed off Michelle. While getting ready this morning, I pulled a muscle in the back of my right leg. After getting to work, I was putting something in the freezer which caused something else to fall on the ground. I bent over to pick it up, stood up and felt the back of my head collide with the freezer door that was slowly closing. Ouch, Grrrr, Ouch, Ouch.

Ohhh.Emmm.Geee. Painting is no joke. I feel like I got hit by a truck. My fingers are even sore. Here are some pictures from the weekend. These are only from Saturday since I was only there a few hours on Sunday before running off to a very fun party that was 100 times more fun than painting. But my BIL, SIL and Chris did some major work on Sunday and we should be done with the downstairs portion of this project by the end of the week. Taped off and ready to go! I tore the sleeves off of my shirt and they made a very nice headband. :) So much paint. So much. Formal living room. With 18 foot ceilings. As of Sunday, they are almost done! Accent wall in the formal dining room. Same color as the living room. My SIL Miranda admiring her very well done accent wall in the family room. She did that all by herself and helped us all weekend. We owe her big time!!! My awesome sister called on Saturday and said she would bring us dinner! So great!!! She and Diana came over and we ate our Taco Bell on a blanket in the kitchen. And of course, no visit is complete without Diana jumping on top of Uncle Chris.... Then we put her to work. Child labor laws were violated. I hope to have completed pictures of downstairs soon! Then comes the really fun part of picking out furniture!!!

My niece loves to color with her crayons. She knows the basic 9 colors. Oh, and magenta. She loves magenta. Her toes are magenta. But next time, I am going to tell her that her toes are actually closer to Cherry Cobbler than magenta. At least according to Behr Paint. Here are some more: Caraway Seed, Cantaloupe Smile, Sweet Sixteen, Rollick, Divot, Cinder Fox, Sea Tickle, Coral Gable Biltmore Mediterranean Mocha. And those are just the names of paint colors from one company. The names might be overboard but the choices are flat out overwhelming. We are planning on painting the downstairs section of our house this weekend. We had a good idea on what type of color palette we wanted and surprisingly agreed on a few colors with no pushback from either of us. Go team. The top color will be an accent color on one wall in our family room. It is called Sumatra Blend but can also be described as brown. The middle color will be on the walls of our formal living room and one accent wall in our formal dining room. It is called Palisade Blue aka, blue. The bottom color is going to be on the remaining walls in the family room as well as stretching into the kitchen, since those two rooms share walls. It is called....wait for it....Cincinnatian Hotel Hannaford or as I like to call it Light Beige. I can't wait to see these colors up on the walls and I'm even more excited to move furniture into the house. I hope it pulls together as well in person as it does within the pictures of my brain.
