#WEverb11: #2 Listen

Listen.

What song did you listen to in 2011 to completely change your mood? Think about ways you can you add more music to your life in 2012.

Yesterday before I left work, I checked on the traffic. Yellow lines filled my Google Map screen and I got angry. I knew it would take a while to get home and I was trying to stay motivated to get to the gym for a good workout. I tried to calm myself down while walking to my car but I felt anxious and annoyed before even putting my car in reverse.

I decided that what I needed was some music that makes me smile and sing along.

This is that music. I know nearly every word to every song on this album and every time I listen to it, I get a smile on my face. I flash back to this summer when we were in New York together. When we walked to the theater and had so much anticipation flowing through our veins as we sat in our seats waiting for the lights to go down. We looked forward to seeing The Book of Mormon Musical for months and the show did not disappoint. And thankfully, I can listen to the cast recording and be instantly transformed into a happy, cheery person through the brilliance of that music.

ETA: I would also like to add that discovering Mumford & Sons was one of the highlights of my 2011. Their music put me in a place of complete happiness and relaxation and comfort.

In 2012, I would like to listen to music daily on my drive home from work. Sometimes I listen to AM radio and the topics make me angry. When that happens, I switch on music that takes my mind off of the problems in the world. I think if I also listen to music throughout my day, while sitting at my desk, I will feel less stressed and anxious about the ins and outs of daily life.

This is fun, I think I might do it too! I need a little blogging jumpstart.

I can TOTALLY relate to your intent for listening to more music in 2012. I also often listen to AM radio on they way home for news and traffic. Sometimes I think that the voices are soothing, but others all the negative talk gets me upset. My favorite AM radio station though just went through a MASSIVE series of changes and cuts, so that might be just the ticket I need to get me back over to the FM music dial!
